Meet The TCC Council
My name is John Shackleton, and I am a physics major in the class of 2022. I am from Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan, and I am in charge of the Social Committee. I owe a lot of my friends and also being on-stage wearing nice clothes chugging a half-gallon of milk to the Tech Catholic Community!
Treasurer & Education Chair
Keith is the TCC Council Treasurer and Education Chair. He is a Senior majoring in Physics and dabbling in Mathematics with Computer Science. He additionally is the Vice President of Member Education for the MIT Chapter of Beta Theta Pi and an NRC certified Nuclear Reactor Operator at the MIT Research Reactor. He hails from Somonauk, Illinois.
Hello there! I’m Diane, from the small town of Hamilton, VA. I’m a junior studying mechanical engineering with electrical engineering and computer science (Course 2A/6). The TCC has been an incredibly welcoming community where I’ve made great friends, and I’m excited to serve it as secretary. I spend most of my free time at MIT with TCC events (spags!), robotics team, and archery club. I also love reading, visiting national parks, and designing 3D printed models.
Social Committee (Publicity Chair)
Hi everyone! My name is Carene Umubyeyi, I’m currently a senior majoring in Civil Engineering, and I’m from Rwanda. The TCC is an incredible community to be a part of and has definitely been one of the highlights of my time here at MIT! In addition to serving as publicity chair, I’m also in the TCC choir and sing at the 9:30 Sunday Mass. Outside of the TCC, I’m also involved in the African Students Association and D-Lab. Apart from that you can find me psetting with friends, exploring Boston, and just hanging out in McCormick :).
Prayer Chair and Social Committee
Hi! I’m Sophia, a senior studying Material Science and Engineering, and I serve as the co-Choir Director, Prayer Chair, and Social Committee member for the TCC. As prayer chair I organize weekly group Rosaries, Stations of the Cross during Lent, and other prayer events off campus. As a member of the Social Committee I help plan and prepare for TCC movie nights, parties, and other fun activities like hiking! Overall, I love getting people involved in the TCC! :)
Social Committee and Spags Chair
Hi everyone! My name is Kathryn, though I also go by Kathy—feel free to call me whichever comes to mind first! I’m on the TCC Social Committee, and I’m also Spags Chair (I plan and cook for the TCC’s spaghetti suppers every Friday night). I’m from the class of 2023 majoring in 14-2 (mathematical economics), and I live in East Campus on 3rd West, Floorpi. I grew up in Arvada, Colorado, riding horses and driving chariots through an organization called Westernaires, helping out with my church’s confirmation class, attending Latin Mass, and being super involved in my school’s student government. At MIT, most of my free time goes to TCC events and participating in my hall’s various activities and culture.
Social Committee and Freshmen Outreach Chair
Hi hi! I'm Aria, and I'm a sophomore from Pittsburgh majoring in Course 6-7 (Computer Science and Molecular Biology). When not psetting, I'm most likely cooking, eating, or swimming (I'm on the MIT Varsity Swim & Dive team -- Go Distance Group!). I am so grateful to the TCC for welcoming me into the MIT community, supporting me through my transition to college, and helping me grow in my faith. I am excited to welcome new first years and pre-frosh (newly admitted/committed students) to the TCC community! Feel free to reach out and say hi!
Hi! I'm a 2023 majoring in physics, and I'm from Cambridge, MA. As one of the education chairs I help organize and publicize Tech Catholic Talks and Thomistic Institute Talks. I also enjoy singing in the TCC choir and helping cook for spags on Fridays. In my free time I enjoy figure skating and playing board games.
Hi! My name is Ashleigh Teygong, and I am a fourth year undergraduate studying chemical engineering (Course X). I currently am a member of GlobeMed and Pi Beta Phi, and in my free time I love to run, cook, and explore Boston!
I am a class of 2022 Course 10 from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and am also planning on minoring in 15-1. As co-service chair of the TCC, I get to plan service events like helping out a nearby elderly home. I also love helping out the social committee for big parties (like assisting Sophia with her famous deviled eggs and cake pops!) Outside of the TCC, I am involved with SWE, ChemE advisory board, and my dorm (McCormick).
Hi! My name is Mark Mosser, and I am a 2024 and plan on majoring either course 2 or course 6 (definitely not course 8). I am from Lakeville, Minnesota. I am very excited to help TCC members be the hands and feet of Jesus as co-service chair. Outside of the TCC, I compete for the men’s track team as a pole vaulter and am a member of MIT’s Army ROTC Battalion.
Hello! I'm a '23 Course 6-2 from East Peoria, IL and I live in McCormick Hall. As webmaster, I keep the website up to date and send out weekly bulletins to members. Besides the TCC, I'm involved with the MIT Robotics Team, Cru, Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, and Vice President of the MIT Pro-Life Club. In my spare time, I enjoy crocheting and spending time with my friends.
Undergrad Member at Large
Hi! My name is Mariana, and I’m the TCC president/council chair. I’m a senior from Chicago studying mechanical engineering and living in McCormick Hall. In my free time, I love hanging out with friends, playing piano and dancing. My love for dance and my Venezuelan background led to my involvement in MIT’s DanceTroupe and the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers. I also help out with a Catholic leadership program for high school girls on the weekends. If there is anything you would like to see in the TCC or something you need help with, please reach out! I’d love to hear from you. :)
Hi! I'm a graduate student in the Chemical Engineering and Computation program, studying molecular design and discovery using machine learning and computational chemistry. I grew up in Battle Creek, MI (the "Breakfast Capital of the World"). After graduating from high school, I moved to the other side of the state to attend the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. I was active in several aspects of my undergrad Catholic community, including alternative spring breaks and organizing a weekly dinner/speaker series. I enjoy participating in the grad men's bible study in the TCC. In my free time, I enjoy reading and playing sports, including football, basketball, running, and weightlifting.
